Austin Based Indie Wrestling
Austin has lots to do, museums, bars, clubs, The Capitol, many restaurants and lots of other things which I have talked about before. Today I am going to talk about something I discovered back in 2009. If your a fan of wrestling be it WWE, TNA, WCW, ECW or a local show you have seen once or twice.
In Austin, there are three main ones that put on shows. TCW, ACW, and Inspire Pro. I bring these up now as a new year is about to start and January is usually a big month for the companies. So I will be briefly talking about all three with links to a blog that will talk about the shows more in depth.
Anarchy Championship Wrestling has their big show Guilty by Association 8 on January 19th, 2014. Anarchy has been in a war the last few months and most of it has been building up to this, there will be cages, Double Jeopardy matches, Grudge matches with titles on the line as well as respect. All this plus more in the ongoing war. Plus you help support local business. In this case both Anarchy Championship Wrestling and The Mohawk bar. The show is at Mohawks which is at 912 Red River, Phone number 512-587-2369. They are one of the longest running Indie shows in Austin and have been in many other cities including Live Oak and have expanded to St. Louis. This is both a good starting point or a way to pick up back if you have not been able to make it. This is their Wrestlemania and they really go all out for it. For more info go here: http://pureanarchy-hmmadness.blogspot.com/2013/12/why-you-should-go-to-acw-guilty-by.html
TCW is also a local Austin company that will I believe be running a show in January, they had some trouble awhile back and are really trying to get back on their feet. You can find them on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with when they show may be, I sadly have very little info as of yet as they don't have a set down but keep your eyes peeled. It is run by Mr. B a wrestler himself.
Inspire Pro Wrestling, has taken quite a big of a break. They burst on the scene only this year and have so far exceeded expectations by everyone that has gone to see them. For a new promotion they are doing excellent and slowly building up their divisions and stars. The FIRST EVER Inspire champ will be crowned at the January event and they have an excellent tag team division already that is growing in leaps and bounds. They are also having their first woman's match in January so their are so many reasons to go. This is a fairly new company so you can still get in on the...lets say 2nd floor? The guys behind the scenes know their stuff and only want to put on the best show they can from Joshua and Max to Biss and Eamon they all work their butts off as do the wrestlers and many others I didn't mention here. It is showcased in the Marchesa Hall and Theater and is called The Ecstacy of Gold. Check out more here:http://pureanarchy-hmmadness.blogspot.com/2013/12/why-you-should-go-to-inspire-pro.html
All three shows should be great and if you have never seen indie wrestling before, make 2014 the year you do. I have seen LONG time WWE/TNA/WCW fans fall in love with it and even seen a person or two who have NEVER watched a day of wrestling in their life enjoy BOTH Anarchy and Inspire. Trust me, 98 percent of the people I have seen come once have returned. Its fun, its friendly, and its a great time. You will enjoy the matches, the fans are for the most part all great and kickass people who you will grow to love and consider family even.
Just go, trust me.

HEY! You Should Check This Out! Video Hate Squad!
This is shown at the Alamo Ritz once a month showing that VHS(the form, not that the movie) will never die. This shows VHS only masterpieces each month and its only a dollar.
It has shown such films as Deadly Pray
Elves!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLo795JFfpg
Crime Killer
Fallen Angel
Last but not least...
Turkish Star Wars
Its a fun time watching classic films that have not yet seen the light of the DVD/Blu Ray generation that has brought almost all movies into the new formats and some look great. But sometimes you just have to see a movie the way it was meant to be seen.
Join in each month, or at least on the months where the movie appeals to you. Its only a buck to get in, hard to beat that.

Epic Rap Battles of History Part Two
In part one I posted some of my favorite ERB's and while this blog is not yet taken off, I am not giving up hope.
The concept is a solid one for Epic Rap Battles of History, they take usually two famous or semi famous people from history, they can be real people, such as Lady Gaga, John Lennon, Freddy Mercury or famous from movies or books, such as Darth Vader, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, and etc.
The two people will battle rap style, some of the pairings make more sense then others, but they take YOUR requests for future rap battles. Last time I put some of my favorite rap battles but in case your tastes or the opposite of mine I will put some of my least favorite up now so you can get a taste of all types.
So now some of my least favorites from the first two seasons, as Season 3 just started and only has two battles.
Season One:
Easter Bunny vs Genghis Khan
This was just a weird, weird pairing. While the Khan parts were not bad and the Easter bunny had a clever line or two it is in my opinion one of the weakest of the whole series.
Christopher Columbus vs Captain Kirk
While this was fun and had some clever lines from both sides, it never quite hit the level with me as some of the others do. Its really on the fence for me, I don't hate it but its not in my faves either.
Napoleon vs Napoleon
Title really says it all...Just paired up due to same names.
SEASON TWO: This season is harder to find ones I don't like as they had really started getting into the swing of it, so while I don't find any of season two bad I will put the ones I feel are the weakest and why.
Mario Brothers vs Wright Brothers
While I REALLY wanted to like this one as it also stars youtubers Rhett and Link who I also like. But this was just another too weird a pair up for me to really get behind. Its fun but not all that clever considering the talent involved.
Cleopatra vs Marilyn Monroe
Again, not awful and the pairing makes a sort of sense but its just not my favorite overall. But its not all bad.
Batman vs Sherlock Holmes
Okay, calm down, let me explain. While BOTH sides have good or great lines I have a few issues with this one, The writers know more about Batman then Sherlock giving them more to work with on that side, they have knowledge of Sherlock but its limited, or maybe there is just more to work with in Batman. Either way Sherlock gets the best lines and while I love both people I really felt Batman got the short end here. Thats really my main issue with it.
So that is some of the ones I felt were weaker, Season two is great overall as they knew what they were doing by that point and really had fun with it.
So give them a follow on Twitter(see previous entry) or Youtube and see what Epic Rap Battles is all about. http://www.youtube.com/user/ERB

Epic Rap Battles of History Part One
So I am staring a new blog today, just about random cool/fun/interesting things I see or do or that others see or tell me about. Some will be stuff you can look up on the Internet, others will be things around town, maybe even other blogs or things I or others have done elsewhere.
I will try to limit as many to Austin or the Net so if you feel like checking it out you can. I will be open to ideas on this one and please share cool or fun ideas you wouldn't mind sharing with others.
Today though I am opening with a favorite of mine and Shana's and a few other people I know, its a You Tube show called EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY.
@Nicepeter and @TheEpic LLOYD from twitter do this show. Its on its 3rd Season and has paired up some really funny people, some WTF pairings and some that didn't seem like they would work but did. This blog is going to be in two parts, this first part is going to be my personnel favorite ERB's Try to do one from each season at least. No more then 6 just to give you a taste.
Part two will be about my least favorite ones, maybe the ones I dislike will be the ones you enjoy, whatever gets you watching. Now for some History.
The battles seem to have stared with an idea by Epic Lloyd but Peter does the sound and most of the chorus with each person usually playing one of the people. They take both real and fictional people from history, even calling on help when needed, They have had Keel and Peele on the show as well as Snoop Dogg(Lion) doing people, they call in fellow Youtubers to do woman and MJ.
So just to show you a taste, here are a few of my favorites in no order whatever...
From Season One: Chuck Norris vs Abe Lincoln
This one has Chuck Fucking Norris taking on the man who freed the slaves and may have fought vampires...
Season One: Gandolf vs Dumbledore
Two powerful wizards of different schools battle it out to see who magic raps are more powerful.
Season Two: Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates
This one makes total sense and has a perfect ending.
Season Two: Adam vs Eve(Man vs Woman)
This was coming and you knew it, Men vs Women. Took almost to the end of Season two but it happened.
Season 3: It only has two videos so far so Al Capone vs Blackbeard
This was done as a sort of crossover with Assassin Creed 4. They wanted a pirate.
Now they take requests on who to do next, you just leave it in the comments below the video. There is a free app for your phone and you can download the songs themselves off of Itunes now.
To see more go here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ERB
Bonus they have a trilogy which I will be posting below. Its a three part Hitler vs Darth Vader that has gone on all three seasons.
Part One and Two:
Two men of evil going at it, this is the first and second time they met, next up part three.
I will try to limit as many to Austin or the Net so if you feel like checking it out you can. I will be open to ideas on this one and please share cool or fun ideas you wouldn't mind sharing with others.
